September 2026: Housing Market Update
The Central Lakes Association of REALTORS® has released its September 2026 Housing Market Statistics, with 1,062 home sales recorded across its six Regions. As we move further into the fall market, sales activity moderated across the Region, while average sale prices continued to reflect varying conditions from one local market to another.
“Sales activity is slowing as we enter the fall market, however, we continue to see fluctuations in price trends across the CLAR Region based on location,” said CLAR President Christine Riley. “These differences highlight how localized real estate continues to be, and why it’s important for buyers and sellers to understand the conditions in their specific market. A REALTOR® can provide the local knowledge and insight needed to help navigate those conditions.”

Below is a closer look at what happened in your area:
Hastings County
Hastings County recorded 138 home sales in September, with both sales and the average selling price down compared to August and September 2025. The average selling price was $516,273.
There were 442 new listings and 979 active listings, with active inventory up 6% compared to September 2025. Homes spent an average of 45 days on the market.

Northumberland County
Northumberland County recorded 118 home sales in September, unchanged from the previous month. The average selling price was $635,163, down from both the prior month and September 2025.

Prince Edward County
Prince Edward County recorded 31 home sales in September, down from both the previous month and September 2025. Despite the decrease in sales activity, the average selling price rose significantly to $856,868 — up 26.6% month-over-month and 8.2% year-over-year.
There were 116 new listings and 268 active listings, while homes spent an average of 65 days on the market.

As we settle into the fall market, September's numbers continue to reinforce just how local real estate can be. While some communities are seeing softer sales and pricing, others are experiencing notable price growth and healthy inventory levels.
