It typically takes a couple of weeks (or even a couple of months) to settle in after moving into a new home.
Even if you are fully unpacked within a few days, it may still take some time to get used to living in a new space.
Making your house feel like home isn’t something that happens on its own. Below are some tips to create the warm, comfortable feeling that turns a house into a home. 🏡
Tip Number 1: Clean up all the dirt and dust from moving day! Clean the toilets, mirrors, countertops, and sinks with an all-purpose disinfectant spray. Dust the baseboards, mop the floors, & vacuum the carpet or rugs. Cleaning your home from top-to-bottom will give it a completely fresh new look!
Put your bedroom together as soon as possible! Unpacking can be overwhelming and stressful, so it’s important to create a relaxing space to rest your head at night. Put on fresh sheets, washbedding, unpack your nightstand items., hang your TV, unpack clothes, and make your bedroom a peaceful space to wind down and chill.
Light a candle, specifically one with a scent that reminds you of your old home. This is helpful if you feel homesick or unsettled in your new home!
Once you are a little bit settled in, host a casual dinner party with some of your close friends and family members! Filling your home with love and laughter is a great way to make your house feel like a home. Make it easy on yourself by asking each guest bring a dish to share!
