Mid-summer upkeep to keep everything cool, clean, and stress-free.
July is peak summer living. Your home is working overtime - cooling systems are running constantly, outdoor spaces are in full use, and little issues can pop up quickly if they’re ignored.
This is the month to stay consistent, protect what you’ve already set up, and keep everything feeling easy.
Outdoor Living & Entertaining
☐ Wipe down patio furniture weekly
☐ Clean BBQ and check propane levels
☐ Inspect deck for sun damage or splintering
☐ Water planters and hanging baskets daily (as needed)
☐ Sweep and maintain outdoor spaces regularly
Lawn & Garden Care
☐ Water lawn deeply (early morning or evening)
☐ Raise mower blade height to protect grass
☐ Stay on top of weeds
☐ Check plants for pests or disease
☐ Continue deadheading flowers
Exterior Maintenance
☐ Walk around your home and look for heat-related wear
☐ Check siding, paint, and trim for fading or cracking
☐ Inspect roof shingles from ground level
☐ Ensure fences and gates are secure
☐ Keep an eye out for insect activity around foundation
Cooling & Energy Efficiency
☐ Replace HVAC filter (mid-summer check)
☐ Make sure A/C is keeping consistent temperature
☐ Clear debris around outdoor A/C unit
☐ Use blinds/curtains during peak sun hours
☐ Run ceiling fans to support airflow
Plumbing & Safety
☐ Check for slow leaks (higher summer water use)
☐ Inspect hoses, sprinklers, and outdoor taps
☐ Monitor basement after heavy summer storms
☐ Test smoke & carbon monoxide detectors
☐ Check for signs of excess humidity indoors
Interior Summer Reset
☐ Keep up with light, regular cleaning
☐ Wash and rotate summer bedding
☐ Stay on top of entryways (sand, grass, dirt)
☐ Declutter high-use areas (kitchen, living room)
☐ Use a dehumidifier if needed
